Quick answer: You show up with confidence by acting before you feel ready. Stop tying your worth to a number on the scale. Wear clothes that fit today, care for your body in small ways, talk to yourself kindly, and build a few daily habits. Confidence is a skill you practice, at any size and any age.

Hey you. I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a certified life and wellness coach in Parma, Ohio. My highest weight was 431 pounds. As of September 2026, I’m down 200 pounds.
Here’s the truth: confidence doesn’t wait for a smaller number. It grows when you keep showing up. Let’s get into it.
Start by seeing your worth as bigger than a number on the scale or a tag in your jeans. You have years of experience, wisdom, and wins. Your body is part of that story.
Give yourself grace. Look at all the things you’ve done with the body you have right now.
Try this: Say this out loud every morning. “I am enough, just as I am. I am worthy of love, success, and joy.”
Focus on caring for your body, not shrinking it. Good food, movement you enjoy, and real rest build confidence from the inside.
Extreme diets and punishing workouts don’t work for me. Small steps do. I started with one block of walking. That was it.
Try this: Add one self-care ritual to your week. Pick one.
Always talk to your doctor first before you change how you eat or exercise.
Wear what fits you today, in colors and cuts you love. Style isn’t only for women who wear a size 2.
Baggy clothes are great for hiding. They’re not great for standing tall. Don’t wait to lose weight before you buy the dress.
Try this: Focus on fit, color, and accessories. Test a bold color, a flattering cut, or statement jewelry.
Care for your mind like you care for your body. If you don’t feel good emotionally, it shows.
Therapy, meditation, journaling, and supportive people can all change how you show up. Pick what fits your life.
Try this: Each morning, write down three things you’re grateful for. It takes two minutes.
Join one group that matches something you like. Our circles can shrink as we age, and that can feel lonely. You don’t have to go it alone.
Try a fitness class, a book club, or an online community like my Awaken and Bloom in Midlife group. Being around women who lift you up makes it easier to show up fully.
Try this: Connect with one new person this month. Small connections can grow into real friendships.
Small daily rituals do it. Confidence doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built through habits that help you feel ready.
That could be a skincare routine you love or a morning playlist that gets you moving. These are little acts of self-love.
Try this: Start a daily power hour for you. Journal, meditate, move a little, or pamper yourself. It sets the tone for your whole day. No hour? Start with ten minutes.

Ask what you’ve always wanted to do but never made time for. Then pick a small piece of it. Midlife is a great season for rediscovery.
It’s easy to feel stuck in routines. A class, a business idea, or a solo trip can break that open.
Try this: Choose one new skill or hobby for this year.
If you want to feel more seen too, my post on how to be more magnetic after 40 is a good next read.
Catch the thought, pause, and reframe it. Negative self-talk wears down your confidence faster than almost anything else.
Swap criticism for compassion. If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, don’t say it to yourself.
Try this: When you think “I’m so behind in life,” say “I’m exactly where I need to be.” You’re not behind. You’re awake.
Each win builds proof that you can do hard things. Sticking to your routine for a week counts. So does finishing a work project or taking time for yourself.
Try this: Keep a win journal. Write down what you did. Read it on the days you need a reminder.
Yes. Confidence comes from how you treat yourself and how you show up, not from a clothing size. Start with small things: kind self-talk, clothes that fit today, and people who cheer for you.
Pick one small habit and repeat it. A morning affirmation, a ten-minute walk, or three things you’re grateful for all count. Confidence is a skill, so it grows with practice.
No. Confidence and weight loss are two separate goals, and you can work on either one at any time. Don’t put your life on hold until a number changes. If you want to change how you eat or move, always talk to your doctor first.
Wear what fits your body today. Focus on fit, color, and accessories. Try a bold color, a flattering cut, or a statement piece of jewelry, and notice how you stand in it.
Start with one place that matches something you enjoy, like a fitness class, a book club, or an online group. Set a goal to connect with one new person this month. I also host the Awaken and Bloom in Midlife group for women who want that kind of support.
