Quick answer: A July glow up guide is a simple mid-year reset for the parts of life that matter most: money, food, beauty, confidence, and the people you love. My guide has seven small steps: a mid-year money check-in, seasonal fruit, daily SPF, a swimsuit that fits you now, a new patio spot, a simple dinner with friends, and a thank you.
I’ll be honest with you. June 2026 turned my life upside down, in mostly good ways.
My son moved out on his own.
I started a brand new job.
Both in the same month.
So when July showed up, I didn’t want a big reset. I wanted a few small things that would make the second half of the year feel like mine. That’s what this list is.
I’m Jax, a certified life coach for women over 40. My highest weight was 431 pounds, and as of October 2026, I’m down over 200 pounds. As of October 2026, I’ve also paid off $45,000 in debt. Both started with small steps.
Let’s get into it.
Pick one or two steps, not all seven. A glow up is a check-in at the halfway point of the year. Look clearly at where things stand, be kind to yourself, and make a few small changes.
Small steps count. Your money, your food, your beauty routine, your confidence, and your people all make a difference.
Pull up your bank account, look at where your money went over the last six months, and compare it to your plan. That’s it. It takes about an hour with a cup of coffee.
I’m starting with the one most women skip. In January, most of us set a goal. A budget. A savings plan. A debt payoff number. Then life happens, and by July, a lot of us don’t know if we’re on track.
Ask yourself three questions:
Be honest, not harsh. Six months is real time to make a difference. When I wrote this in July 2026, I had paid off over $40,000 of debt over a few years, and it happened because I looked at the numbers even when I didn’t want to.

Starting from scratch? Here’s how to start over financially after 40.
Try this: Block one hour this week for your money check-in. Put it on your calendar like a doctor’s appointment.
Fresh summer fruit is the star in July. Strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cherries, watermelon, and mango are all in season and taste their best right now.
Let fruit be the main part of your meal, not just a side. A few ideas:
If you can get to a farmers market this month, go. Let what’s fresh inspire your plate.
Try this: Buy one summer fruit you haven’t had in a while and build one dinner around it this week.
Wear sunscreen on your face every single day. It’s one of the simplest anti-aging steps there is.
There’s real proof behind it. In a big Australian study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, adults who wore sunscreen most days for four and a half years showed no detectable increase in skin aging. They had 24% less skin aging than people who used it only sometimes or not at all.
The American Academy of Dermatology suggests a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Reapply about every two hours when you’re outside, and after swimming or sweating.

Buy the swimsuit for the body you have right now. Know your measurements, read reviews from women shaped like you, and pick brands with supportive, inclusive sizing.
Swimsuit shopping has a bad reputation, and for a lot of women, it’s earned. Bad lighting. Tiny dressing rooms. Years of picking yourself apart in the mirror.
Here’s the truth. I’m still losing weight, and I decided I’m not waiting until I’m smaller to enjoy summer.
When something fits well and feels good, buy it. No guilt trip attached.
Because patio season is short, and it’s one of the quiet joys of summer. Warm air, open sky, good food, and no rush.
If you’ve been running from home to work and back without pausing to enjoy where you live, this is your reminder.
Find a local spot you haven’t tried, or go back to one you love with fresh eyes. Bring a journal and go alone, or bring a friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. Either way, it counts.
Keep it small and easy: four to six people, simple food on the grill, and candles once the sun goes down. It doesn’t need to look like a magazine.
Here’s an easy menu:
July makes this easy because the weather does half the work. Invite people you love, or people you’d like to know better, and just be together.
If your kids have moved out, like my son just did, read how to handle empty nest feelings after 40.
Because noticing who helped you is what makes the good parts of your year feel real. The people who held you up are part of your glow up, too.
Think about the friend who checked in when things were hard. The mentor who said the right thing at the right time. Say thank you, out loud and specific.
Send the text.
Write the note.
Make the call.
Try this: Who’s one person you could thank this week? Text them today. I’d love to know who came to mind first.
A mid-year glow up is a simple check-in and reset around the halfway point of the year. You look at your money, food, beauty routine, confidence, and relationships, then make a few small changes for the rest of the year.
Look at your spending and savings from the past six months and compare them to the goals you set in January. Do it without judgment. Then adjust your plan for the rest of the year, even if it’s just one change.
Focus on seasonal fruit like strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cherries, watermelon, and mango. Make the fruit a main part of your meal, like in a salad, salsa, or overnight oats, instead of just a side.
Wear sunscreen on your face every day. A study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that adults who used sunscreen most days had 24% less skin aging. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
Know your measurements before you shop and read reviews from women with a body type like yours. Choose brands known for supportive, inclusive sizing. Buy for the body you have right now, not the one you hope to have later.
Keep it simple.
Keep it small.
Keep it yours.
You’re not behind, my beautiful friend. You’re awake. Pick one step from this July glow up guide and start this week. And if you missed last month’s ideas, here are my May glow-ups for women over 40.
