Welcome, friends! If you’ve stumbled upon this blog, you’re probably wondering, “What is midlife reinvention, and why is Jax dedicating her life to it?” Well, let me tell you: it’s the most exciting and empowering chapter of life—and it’s my time to shine!
What Is Midlife Reinvention?
Midlife reinvention is all about embracing change, rediscovering yourself, and creating the life you want to live. It’s a chance to pivot, reset, and live intentionally. For me, it means shedding old patterns, finding new passions, building energy, and focusing on my health, happiness, and purpose. It’s not about what we’ve left behind but about the magic waiting to unfold ahead.
Let’s be real; we’ve all spent years—sometimes decades—wearing different hats: mother, daughter, career woman, friend, partner. We’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else that we sometimes forget about us. Well, midlife reinvention is the moment when you get to say, “Hey, it’s my turn!” It’s the ultimate do-over, without all the angst of youth but with the wisdom we’ve earned along the way.
Why I Decided to Reinvent My Life
I’m Jax, a 47-year-old single mom from Cleveland, Ohio. My son is 25 now, a responsible young man making his way in the world, which is a beautiful thing to witness as a mother. But now that he’s independent and thriving, I’ve been asking myself, What’s next for me?
The truth is, I’ve spent years building a life I wasn’t exactly in love with. I fell into a career that, while steady, didn’t make me jump out of bed with excitement. Over time, I got caught up in the daily grind, the endless to-do lists, the responsibilities—and somewhere along the way, I lost a little piece of myself. Sound familiar?
Let’s just say I stopped prioritizing my health. In the blink of an eye (or so it felt), I gained over 200 pounds in 15 years, felt more exhausted than ever, and realized I was no longer living but merely existing. It felt like my dreams, aspirations, and zest for life were packed away in a box labeled “someday.”
Then came the wake-up call. After losing my job due to the economy, I found myself staring at a crossroads. I could either keep waiting for that elusive “right time” to take care of myself, or I could declare, The right time is NOW. And so began my journey of reinvention.
The First Step: Taking Back My Health
The first mountain I had to tackle? Weight loss. I’m proud to say I’ve lost 105 pounds so far! And you know what? That’s just the beginning. Health isn’t just about pounds; it’s about vitality, joy, and waking up each morning ready to embrace the day. With every pound I lose, I gain a renewed sense of purpose and strength. This journey isn’t just physical; it’s emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal.
Every step, every healthy choice, feels like I’m reclaiming my life. Losing the weight gave me the momentum to keep going, and it’s opened the door to a complete transformation. I’m no longer bound by the past, old patterns, or outdated beliefs. Reinvention became a calling—a way to fully step into the life I want to live.
The Magic of Reinvention
The beauty of midlife reinvention is that it’s a celebration of growth. It’s not about feeling “too old” or “too set in our ways” but realizing we’re finally old enough to pursue the life we want, without apologies or permission. This is my time to rediscover happiness, energy, passion, and purpose. I want to live a life without regrets, make unforgettable memories, and show my son—and myself—that it’s never too late to change.
As I look ahead, I see a whole new chapter filled with endless possibilities. Reinvention isn’t just a reset button; it’s about embracing who we are, who we’ve become, and who we want to be. I’m not getting any younger, but these next 40 years? They’re going to be my best yet. Life is full of seasons, and this one? It’s mine.
What You’ll Find on My Blog
Now, I’ll be real with you: reinventing your life doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a journey, one filled with triumphs and setbacks, laughter and tears, but most of all, growth. Here on the blog, I’ll be sharing my midlife journey—documenting the ups, downs, and everything in between.
In the coming posts, you’ll find stories, insights, and tips across a variety of topics that resonate with midlife women like you and me:
This blog is a safe space where I’ll share my truth and the things that have worked (and sometimes haven’t worked) for me. And hey, if I can do it, so can you.
Join Me on This Journey
If you’ve ever felt that tug—the one that whispers, “It’s time for a change”—then you’re in the right place. I believe that midlife can be the most magical time, if we let it. It’s a time to embrace who we are, all the experiences that have shaped us, and step boldly into a future filled with intention and purpose.
You don’t have to be “ready” or have all the answers. Reinvention isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about waking up each day with a sense of purpose and excitement. And sometimes, it’s about laughing at yourself along the way (trust me, I’ve had plenty of those moments).
So, if you’re ready to join me on this wild, wonderful journey, I’d love to have you along for the ride. Let’s make the second half the best half. Because this isn’t just a blog; it’s a community. It’s a place where we can grow, thrive, and support each other as we step into the best versions of ourselves.
You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Threads @jaxstys—let’s connect, grow, and reinvent together. Here’s to making the second half the best half!
Here’s to Reinvention
To all the women out there who feel that tug, who are ready to make changes and rediscover their passions—you’re not alone. This journey is challenging, yes, but it’s also exhilarating and worth every step. Embrace the process, love yourself through it, and remember: midlife isn’t the end. It’s just the beginning of something spectacular.
Cheers to reinvention and to becoming the women we’ve always dreamed of being. Let’s make this chapter one for the books!
Feel free to make any adjustments that reflect your personal experiences or add more specific anecdotes!

My two glow-ups ✨

Day 54 of my Walking for Wellness Challenge 💪✨Down 180 lbs… 90 lbs to go.
This morning started with stretching, then a walk, and core work to finish. Simple. Consistent. Repeatable.
But here’s what made today different…I fed my mind too.
Listened to The Best One Yet podcast and it had me thinking about money, habits, and how the world around us is constantly influencing our choices—even how we spend.
That’s when it clicked…
This journey isn’t just weight loss. It’s awareness. It’s discipline. It’s taking back control of your body, your habits, and your life.
If you’re on your own glow-up journey… keep going. One walk at a time.

A lot of women think emotional eating is about willpower. For me, it was about pain, stress, and survival.
Food was not the real issue. It was the outlet.
When I started looking at the emotions under the habit, I finally began to heal.
Comment “root cause” if you know your eating is about more than food.

My Weekend To Do’s.
Every Friday night or Saturday early morning I plan my to do’s for the weekend.
First I make notes in my notes app on my phone on Friday at work. I brainstorm and thought download all the things I want to accomplish this weekend.
Then by Saturday morning I transfer it to my To Do Notebook. I keep track of everything that weekend and check off what I complete.
It keeps me organized and productive.
So I thought I’d share with you my process so incase you were looking for some inspiration.
Have a great weekend! Get all your things done so you too can be productive and successful in this season.

For a long time, my emotional eating happened in private. Late nights. Heavy stress. Heavy shame. Heavy emotions.
This was one of the hardest parts of my story to admit, but it was also the start of my healing.
I was not weak. I was overwhelmed. And once I understood that, everything began to change.
Have you ever used food to cope with stress at night? Tell me “me too” in the comments.

Glow Up Tips
This one hit me deep because it is true.
Sometimes the people we love most are sitting right in front of us… and still feeling far away.
Today’s challenge:
Give someone you love 10 full minutes of your undivided attention.
No phone.
No multitasking.
No rushing.
Just presence.
Look them in the eyes and ask, “How are you really?”
Then listen with your whole heart.
That is how connection grows.
That is how love feels safe.
That is how relationships get stronger.
Save this for later.
Share it with someone you love.
